Spring Fundraiser

Supporting our community has always been a high priority for me, both personally and as a business owner.  It’s also one of the values that I see the community of Sherwood also holds dear.  Our community rallies when someone is in need.

In March of 2019, at the age of 14, Mallory was admitted to Doernbecher Children's Hospital where she had her first grand mal seizure. Mallory had developed 5 different types of epilepsy, a condition where her brain incorrectly regulates electrical charges and results in violent thrashing of her limbs and extreme whole body muscular contractions.  While many people with epilepsy can manage their seizures with medication, Mallory has tried nearly 2 dozen different anticonvulsant medications, and not a single one has worked well for her.  The 20 pills a day she takes currently cause extreme fatigue and cognitive decline.

The worst part about epilepsy, and the most frightening for Mallory, is that she could collapse and have a seizure at any moment without warning. Mallory is a Senior at Sherwood High School.  She is afraid to have a seizure at school, as this can be embarrassing and those around her may not know what is going on or what to do.

Mallory had to grow up far too fast, with a limited capacity for independence. A service dog would be the closest thing Mallory can get to achieving the freedom that an 18 year old deserves to have. This epilepsy alert dog would be trained to know Mallory’s chemical changes that occur in her body before she has a seizure, and be able to make her aware that she is going to seize soon. This alert gives Mallory the opportunity to get to a safe location, make those around her aware, and call for help if she needs.  These specialized dogs are extremely expensive, which is why we are looking to the community for help.

Sherwood Dance Academy will be hosting a fundraiser and silent auction on Saturday, March 11th at 6:30pm.  The show will feature a variety of performances from local artists and students.

There are multiple ways you can support our fundraiser!

  • We are asking for donations* of an item, certificate, or service for our silent auction.

  • Sponsoring the event with a cash donation*.

  • Attending the show! Tickets: $15/adult, $10/child (2-17), $5/SHS student. Pre-sale tickets are available now!
